Expected time of departure: 0600hrs
Day 1
Depart for 5-6 hours overland journey to Sook, Nabawan, Sapulut to reach the Security Gate of Maliau Basin Conservation Area (MBCA). After dinner, enjoy a night night in search of nocturnal animals near the Study Centre (subject to weather condition). Overnight at Maliau Basin Study Centre (Hostel). (Lunch & Dinner)
Day 2
After breakfast, begin trekking through the rainforest for 7.5 km trail to Nepenthes Camp. Have simple refreshment at the camp while relaxing your muscles before we proceed for another 3 km trekking to Takob-Akob Falls and Giluk Falls. Swimming and relaxing at the waterfall (subject to time and weather condition) before returning to Nepenthes Camp for overnight stay. (Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner)
Day 3
Today, we trek for approximately 6.7 km to Ginseng Camp. Discover the abundance of nepenthes plants along “Jalan Babi”. Arrive at Ginseng Campsite, relax and swim in the nearby cool forest waterfall (subject to time and weather condition) and immerse yourself to the sound of the wilderness. Stay overnight at Ginseng Camp. (Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner)
Day 4
Resume trek to the spectacular seven tier Maliau Falls and enjoy a refreshing swim. Trekking back to Ginseng Campsite for overnight stay. The trek will be 4.8 km each way. (Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner)
Day 5
After breakfast, leave Ginseng Campsite for the 9 km trek to Agathis Camp. Pack up before we transfer back to Maliau Study Centre. Depart for Keningau, en route to Kota Kinabalu. (Breakfast & Lunch)
Note: Temperature at night could drop to 13°-15°C. Personal Porter is available on request at a surcharge. All trekkers are required to fill in a confidential Medical Information Form and Indemnity Form which will be provided during pre-briefing session prior to the commencement of tour. In the event of heat exhaustion, injury or sickness, helicopter rescue can be arranged at client’s expense.
