Upon arrival at Borneo Rainforest Lodge, settle in and get ready for an introduction to the day's nature activities. The schedule includes guided nature trails, providing insights into the rich biodiversity of the area. Experience the Canopy Walkway, a remarkable 360-meter-long structure suspended 27 meters above the ground, offering an unparalleled view of the rainforest. As the day winds down, embark on a Night Drive or Night Walk, a unique opportunity to witness the jungle come alive after dark.
Awaken to the enchanting calls of Bornean Gibbons as your second day kicks off with a guided trek to the "View Point" and "Coffin Cliff," an ancient Dusun Subpan burial site. Take a rejuvenating break by the Natural Jacuzzi pool before relishing lunch at the Lodge. The afternoon offers optional activities: join a guided jungle trek or, weather permitting, enjoy a thrilling Water Tubing session down the Danum River for an hour.

You can gain the first-hand experience to be close with a multitude of flora and fauna in this 130-million-year-old rainforest. Some species are endemic to Borneo and they are the sambar deer, civets, lizards, butterflies, birds and several species of primates and insects. You can spot them with the help of our nature guides.
Leeches are common in the rainforest and there are 2 types of species found in Danum Valley. The brown leeches live on the ground and the tiger leeches are on the leaves. Leech bites are not harmful but it may leave a slight discomfort feeling from the bite. So far, we have no record of infection resulting from a leech bite.
Wi-Fi is available at the main lodge. However, due to the remoteness of our location, internet and mobile connection are limited to 2G access at best only.
Light and comfortable clothing, small back-pack, sunscreen lotion, insect repel- lent cream, hat, hand towel, drinking water and a walking stick are essential. (See below on Your Essential Items)
Danum Valley is considered to be a low- risk area for malaria transmission. However, it is advisable to take all necessary measures to prevent mosquito bites especially during dusk and dawn. It is advisable also to keep the veranda door closed during the day to avoid mosquitoes entering the room. All rooms are installed with mosquito netting and are provided with an electronic mosquito repellent.
We rely on satellite communication and landline phone are provided in each room. Guests can use the main lodge services for fixed line calling, emailing and faxing.
It depends on the age of the children and their fitness level. Our 22 marked trails are fully guided and a safety briefing is done before every trekking. Alter- natively, our self-guided nature trail on an elevated boardwalk with interpretation is suitable for younger children, elderly and lower fitness groups.
If a doctor consultation is deemed necessary, we will make an immediate arrangement to send a quest to the nearest medical facility for treatment. For minor injury, our service associates are trained with first aid and can assist with a remedy if feeling unwell.
