3D2N Itinerary

DAY 1

Your adventure begins with a warm welcome at Lahad Datu Airport, where our team will pick you up for a scenic 2 hours and 30 minutes drive into the heart of the Danum Valley Conservation Area.

Along the journey, marvel at the breath-taking landscapes of this ancient virgin rainforest, which has stood for millions of years. Keep your eyes peeled, as you might encounter some of the incredible wildlife that calls this place home.

Upon arrival at Borneo Rainforest Lodge, settle in and get ready for an introduction to the day's nature activities. The schedule includes guided nature trails, providing insights into the rich biodiversity of the area. Experience the Canopy Walkway, a remarkable 360-meter-long structure suspended 27 meters above the ground, offering an unparalleled view of the rainforest.

As the day winds down, embark on a Night Drive or Night Walk, a unique opportunity to witness the jungle come alive after dark.

DAY 2

Awaken to the enchanting calls of Bornean Gibbons as your second day kicks off with a guided trek to the "View Point" and "Coffin Cliff," an ancient Dusun Subpan burial site.

Take a rejuvenating break by the Natural Jacuzzi pool before relishing lunch at the Lodge. The afternoon offers optional activities: join a guided jungle trek or, weather permitting, enjoy a thrilling Water Tubing session down the Danum River for an hour.

In times of wet weather, intriguing indoor activities will be arranged, adding cultural element of surprise to your rainforest experience. Alternatively, spend leisure time as you wish.

As the evening approaches, join a Night Drive or Night Walk, unveiling the forest's nocturnal wonders.

DAY 3

For those seeking an early adventure on the last day, opt for a morning walk before returning to the Lodge for a hearty lunch. Afterward, it's time to bid farewell as you check out and make your way to Lahad Datu Airport for your onward flights.

What can I see?

You can gain the first-hand experience to be close with a multitude of flora and fauna in this 130-million-year-old rainforest. Some species are endemic to Borneo and they are the sambar deer, civets, lizards, butterflies, birds and several species of primates and insects. You can spot them with the help of our nature guides.

Are there leeches during the walk?

Leeches are common in the rainforest and there are 2 types of species found in Danum Valley. The brown leeches live on the ground and the tiger leeches are on the leaves. Leech bites are not harmful but it may leave a slight discomfort feeling from the bite. So far, we have no record of infection resulting from a leech bite.

Is Wi-Fi service available at the lodge?

Wi-Fi is available at the main lodge. However, due to the remoteness of our location, internet and mobile connection are limited to 2G access at best only.

How do I prepare myself for the walks?

Light and comfortable clothing, small back-pack, sunscreen lotion, insect repel- lent cream, hat, hand towel, drinking water and a walking stick are essential. (See below on Your Essential Items)

Should I be worried about mosquitoes?

Danum Valley is considered to be a low- risk area for malaria transmission. However, it is advisable to take all necessary measures to prevent mosquito bites especially during dusk and dawn. It is advisable also to keep the veranda door closed during the day to avoid mosquitoes entering the room. All rooms are installed with mosquito netting and are provided with an electronic mosquito repellent.

Alter- natively, our self-guided nature trail on an elevated boardwalk with interpretation is suitable for younger children, elderly and lower fitness groups.
